Impressive Monaco Dump Pep's City Out Of UCL

UCL Match Report: Monaco v Manchester City 15 March 2017

UEFA Champions League

Result: Monaco 3-1 Manchester City (6-6 on aggregate)

Date: 15 March 2017

Venue: Stade Louis II

AS Monaco advanced to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals on the away goals rule after defeating Manchester City 3-1 in their second leg on Wednesday evening.

City came into the encounter having secured a 5-3 win in the first leg at the Etihad two weeks ago.

Pep Guardiola opted start Yaya Toure on the bench and went for an attacking by playing David Silva, Kevin de Bruyne and only one holding midfielder.

The home side broke the deadlock after eight minutes when Bernard Silva's low cross was turned home by Kylian Mbappe.

City, meanwhile, really struggled in the opening 20 minutes. They spent most time defending, while they were sloppy in possession of the ball.

The French side doubled their lead in the 29th minute when Benjamin Mendy did well to pick out Fabinho, who side-footed home from close range, 2-0.

Guardiola's charges continued in the same fashion for the rest of the second half, as they went into the break trailing.

City should have broken the deadlock after 62 minutes, as Leroy Sane picked out Sergio Aguero, who blazed over from six-yards out.

The visitors eventually pulled goal back in the 70th minute when Sane fired into an empty net, after Subasic could only parry Raheem Sterling's effort.

However, Monaco restored their two-goal advantage in the 77th minute, as Tiemoué Bakayoko glanced home a fine header to make it 6-6 on aggregate.

Guardiola's charges pushed for a second goal that would see them advance, but Monaco managed to hold out till the full-time to book their spot in the last 16 on the away goals rule.

The coach here is so full of himself that he undermines players who have helped Man City to where they are today.

Hahahaha "Pitso"..ok @sir KAIZER SENIOR boss this is football you know it..when my team is gonna play i have a belief that it is gonna win whether it's against..R.Madrid or Barcelona..i trust and expect them to...knowing that losing is the part of the game...as for Yaya Toure...we drop Points against Stoke city ...he was there and no one said a word about it instead "Pepstore this...Pepstore".Yaya has been brilliant this season season but not all the game he played in..Man City won Everton gave us 4-0 Yaya Toure was there.People just give Credit to Monaco they were the better side...even first they played like home team @Etihad.Hay madoda it's like City is relegated they way some people are so excited.

@Zugo48... If he leaves who will you play there? Ilkay? The one who got injured because he couldnt withstand the physical english football demands... Let me him go and join Arsenal on the list of teams who always wait for the following season...
