Ex-Downs Midfielder In Third Tier
Former Pirates Striker Joins Third Tier Cape Side
Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits midfielder, Thando Mngomeni, has been confirmed as the latest addition to the squad of The Magic FC.
Mngomeni, who has played for different clubs in Mzansi’s top tier as well as Helsingborg in Sweden in his career, was last registered with a PSL club with Wits in the 2011/12 season.
He parted ways with the Sturrock Park outfit at the end of that season. As confirmed by George Dearnaley, who is the head coach at The Magic, Mngomeni has joined the club for the new season.
Dearnaley confirmed that both Mngomeni and Lennox Bacela have signed for the Mother City-based third tier side that he is coaching.
“Lennox is going to play for us this season in the ABC Motsepe League. It’s Lennox, and also Thando Mngomeni, who’s also going to play for us this season. We hope we can have a nice combination of experienced players and young players. We don’t just sign any old players, we want old players that come with the right attitude.
“Both of them (Bacela and Mngomeni) have been training hard with the young players. They don’t ask for favours. If you say run, they run and that’s good to see. They have been good example to the youngsters,” Dearnaley told the Siya crew.
The former AmaZulu and Bafana Bafana striker confirmed that his club is keen to further strengthen the squad with a few more players with experience.
