Betting Tips: Confed Cup Takes The Stage!

On Saturday, June 17, Black Leopards will host Baroka FC in the South African promotion play-offs. Baroka is currently in the lead in the mini league, however, after Leopards’ win against Stellenbosch on Wednesday, they will be confident to collect maximum points against Bakgaga.

The FIFA Confederations Cup takes place as Portugal battle out against Mexico. The Portuguese go into the encounter in good form, however, Mexico cannot be underestimated.

Cameroon will head into the Confederations Cup looking to represent Africa in the tournament, however, facing Chile will be a tough test for the Indomitable Lions.

Australia will battle out against Germany. The Australians will have to play with their hearts on their sleeves if they seek to win against a strong German team.

Black Leopards v Baroka (Absa Premiership promotion playoff)

League rankings: Black Leopards 2nd (National First Division) & Baroka 15th (Absa Premiership)

Useful facts: It seems unlikely that Baroka will not retain their top-flight status, having already won twice in the play-offs, including a 2-1 win over Leopards. However, a win for Lidoda Duvha would give them an outside chance to beat their opponents to the punch, as they have a game in hand on both Baroka and Stellenbosch. They are four behind Baroka in terms of goal difference and their best hope is to draw level on points, thus requiring them to come away with a big win and to beat Stellenbosch in their midweek showdown.

Kurt Lentjies: This will be a draw – 1-1.

Portugal v Mexico (FIFA Confederations Cup)

FIFA rankings: Portugal 8th & Mexico 17th

Useful facts: In two matches between the two continental champions since 2006, it is the Portuguese that came out on top, winning both games – a World Cup match and an international friendly – respectively. Four wins from their last five for the Cristiano Ronaldo-led European champions would also give them an advantage in terms of form, with Mexico winning only three times in that timeframe.

Kurt Lentjies: Mexico will win it 1-0.

Cameroon v Chile (FIFA Confederations Cup)

FIFA rankings: Cameroon 32nd & Chile 4th

Useful facts: The last time these two sides met was way back in 1998 in a 1-1 draw in the World Cup. The African champions have won five games in a row in the build-up to this game, while Chile is undefeated in seven of their last eight.

Kurt Lentjies: Chile, 3-1.

Australia v Germany (FIFA Confederations Cup)

FIFA rankings: Australia 48th & Germany 3rd

Useful facts: Germany hold the historic advantage, with two wins compared to Australia’s one from four previous meetings between them. Furthermore, the world champions have lost just three games since 2015, while Australia has lost twice in their last three games, most recently succumbing 2-1 to Greece.

Kurt Lentjies: Germany will win 3-0.
