Ajax Cape Town Have Moved To Take Disciplinary Action On Mamelodi Sundowns’ Target
Ajax Cape Town have taken disciplinary action on one of Mamelodi Sundowns’ transfer targets after the player failed to report to pre-season duty.
It was previously revealed on Soccer Laduma that the in-demand defender, Rivaldo Coetzee, did not show up for pre-season training with the Urban Warriors, with sources indicating that the player feels that he is not earning a fair salary and is trying to force a move away from the Cape Town-based club.
However, it was subsequently revealed that the player’s representative, Mike Makaab, was in discussions with Ajax about the player’s situation.
“I’m currently in negotiations with Ajax about Rivaldo, but I won’t be commenting any further on it at this stage,” Makaab revealed in last week’s edition of Soccer Laduma.
The Siya crew has since been informed that Coetzee is still ‘AWOL’ and that Ajax fined the player after breaching the rules of his contract with the Urban Warriors.
Coetzee has two more years left on his existing deal with Ajax after the added option was exercised by the club, which means that any interested suitor will have to negotiate directly with the club’s management in order to complete a transfer for the player.
As reported in issue number 1031 of Soccer Laduma, along with Sundowns, Orlando Pirates have shown interest in the player’s services, however, it remains to be seen what will come of the 20-year-old’s situation in the coming weeks.
