Senzo Meyiwa’s Father Hurting

Senzo Meyiwa’s Death Is Affecting His Family

By Soccer Laduma - Nov 07, 2017 04:28 PM

Sam Meyiwa, who is the father of the late former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa, is still hurt that there are still no arrests for his son’s death.

Meyiwa was shot and killed in Vosloorus in 2014. Three years later, no one has been sentenced for his passing.

“It hurts every time I think about the day of his death. I remember everything about the day he was killed. It brings all the sad memories. His mother and I used to not watch him on the day of the game when he played. We were nervous for watching him as the game happened. We used to watch him when they showed the repeat of the game on TV. His sisters and brother would watch as the game happened but we as the parents would watch the repeat. We were scared that he would concede goals or get injured,” Meyiwa told the Siya crew.

In remembrance of the late football star, the Meyiwa household recently held a prayer meeting in their Umlazi home as the football fraternity commemorated three years without him.

“The day he was killed I had just watched the repeat of the game he played the previous night against Ajax (Cape Town). His brother, Sifiso, came to deliver the news of his death to us but on his arrival at home, he couldn’t because of nervousness. One of the neighbours found the courage to tell us what happened. Just like that, he said, ‘Don’t cry, Senzo is no more.’ I was like, ‘So we had been watching on TV someone who didn’t exist anymore.’ Then it made sense that he had not responded to the SMSes I sent to him earlier in the day. Usually, he would respond immediately when I sent him SMSes alerting him to the mistakes he made in a game and so on. But that evening I wasn’t getting any reply from him,” continued Meyiwa.

“It hurts. We received phone calls from the Orlando Pirates office telling us that Senzo got hurt. There was a bit of hope, thinking that he was still alive. Then Mr. (Irvin) Khoza called me to say, ‘I’m sorry, the boy got hurt.’ We were all hurt. What makes me hurt the most is that Senzo was everything in my life and my family. Life is no longer the same without him being part of our lives. Senzo’s killers aren’t being caught and arrested. Everything is at a standstill,” concluded Meyiwa.

You know Ntate Meyiwa we can't even cry with anymore.some of us loved Senzo like our brother and we hurt a lot about what happened on the night.how many cases that involves death are not solved in the hands of SAPS?Senzo's death is not a special case,I'm not saying is good what is happening but running to media won't help either.lot of people get bored about your comments everytime you talk, can't you keep quiet and pray see what's gonna happen?be a man enough now as people think your only after the money of Senzo.we wish your family all the best and hope the police will find your sons killers.stop running to the papers as they not helping with anything but publishing the story.you say Pirates is cursed they won't win anything because of Senzo,Pirates never killed Senzo he chose to date that Kelly girl.why Pirates shouldn't win anything because of something that doesn't involve them in the killing of Senzo.please stop it and look for alternatives,go to Pirates offices and look for Khoza not on papers

Our state institutions are captured to have to investigate the Senzo murder. The only people who are prosecuted successfully in RSA are the so called racists. If police were working in South Africa Zuma would have long been arrested.

Senzo's death doesn't make sense at all, my question is how can a powerful man like Dr Khoza fail to get those people who did this? How can 4 people who were in the same house with Senzo fail to identify the killers? I still think a person who is behind this is powerful like hell, if the killer was just a normal person they would've catch that person long time ago...

My suspicion is that Senzo fell into a well organised trap. The trap was not only organised by ordinary citizens alone. There was a connection from the wellknown people up there who have millions to cover the tracks. Whoever is tasked with Investigation get paid to sit on the information. I feel pity for Mr Meyiwa who lost a child like an owner of a puppy that got ran over by a car in the street. To Mr Meyiwa be strong secrets have their own way to come out. God is watching from a distance.
