“Lebese Has Lost Hunger” – Reader’s Voice

Default

Kaizer Chiefs winger, George Lebese, is no longer the same player who used to be thrilling to watch under Stuart Baxter’s mentorship at Naturena over two seasons ago.

He no longer brings smiles to the Amakhosi’s fans faces and it looks like he has lost his determination and hunger for success. Over the past two seasons, the midfielder has completely failed to stay consistent with his performances throughout the season.

He used to produce fireworks, flair and goals down the wing for the mighty Amakhosi. Lack of consistency has cost him a place in the national team. When a good player like Lebese loses his form, that also affects the team’s performances.

Kaizer Chiefs’ failure to win silverware for two seasons in a row is the outcome of the poor form by the club's best players. A similar scenario transpired during the 2010/2011 season under Vladimir Vermezovic.

Although chiefs won the Telkom Knockout Cup the previous season, the likes of Josta Dladla dropped their heads against Orlando pirates in the MTN8 final and they ended that particular season with no silverware. Lebese was dropped from Steve Komphela’s starting line-up as the Zimbabwean attacker, Edmore Chirambadare, was preferred ahead of him.

With that said, do you think that George Lebese deserves to play for Kaizer Chiefs?

Take note of what I wrote about Chiefs level of fitness, it's very low that's why they always concede goals towards the end of the game. During Baxter's time this team was very fit that's why they were so solid. The problem is not all about Lebese's laziness its about the discipline of the coach when it comes to pushing his players at training. Steve is too soft to instill fitness in the likes of Lebese who has become big headed. All I'm saying is that Steve my find a way of instilling some discipline in the Chiefs present day squad otherwise we will keep conceding goals towards the dying moments of the game because the players are not super fit, that is not only Lebese but the majority of the team.

I agree with some fans views that George used to be a forcr down the left flank but since Steve took over, this player went missing in action. I think Steve doent like Lebese style of play, and as such he sees Edmore as better to him, I differ with Steve on this one. We can point several things to Lebese's performance, but fact it that the whole team of Chiefs is playing bad football. Number of players must leave the club since they dont know what it means to don that jersey.

I think having 2 jobs is taking its toll on George. I think he should just focus more on his new career as an actor on Skeem Saam.

If you know the vibes to sit on the bench watching your team lose left and right you there to help, that is a case as a player. Steve Komphela and Lebese is water and oil, nothing goes well between them. I remember one day he chose to replace him for none reason, the guy(Lebese) went straight to the bench, his face look bad he bemoan for kicked out. Thats were matters started, he realize Komphela he don't favor him. According to Steve, Lebese he don't give him what he want him to do, he play him for the reason fans love him not according to his plans, that is the reason always he want to see him don't finish the game or not even start the game. So as a player, when something like that, ups and downs exist, those can't sit well with you, you find yourself thwarted and lose appetite to your coach and it will cost your form and your team as well.

Khune, Lebese, Parker,Mathoho, Masilela are most senior players but have lost form and hunger, Bobby should ensure each of these players is psychologically tested, complacency is a danger to any form of sport, and donning a Chiefs Jersey is not a school uniform, it means a player should go thereand deliver. Shabba is the only senior player that has delivered this season.

A loan to Sundowns will do him some good, he needs a reminder that he's playing for a serious team
